You may have bought your children floaties for their arms to make them feel more comfortable in the water. However, this is often not the best way to help them progress their swimming and survival skills. Not only can they give your children a false sense of security, but they also discourage proper form because they force their body to be vertical instead of horizontal in the water. If your children are used to floaties taking them away might be tough, but in the long run, it will help fast-track their learning to swim and their ability to save themselves in an emergency situation.
